The Pignose Willy’s

It’s the blues rock n roll boogie, The Pignose Willy’s backwoods breakdown, the foot stompin hip shakin electric snakin go! go! go! of this new exciting dirty blues playin duo.

Comprised of Joost Varkenvisser behind the wheel and doing heavy time on the vocals, electric guitar, kick drum, shaking and kicking everything one man with four limbs possibly can; and riding shotgun, the lookout man, Pieter Kamp on the roaring whore of the electric distortion blues harmonica.

This is the music of the Great Mississippi delta blues, dug up and torn free from the shackles of sin and salvation. The Pignose Willy’s, the sound of tin shack juke joint bbq pits buzzing the blues, feed and bleed, hallucination, speed, in the history and legend of the cotton seed. Raw and right.

They recorded their first single, Green Bottle with help from an old TEAC cassetterecorder and cut it onto vinyl and released it on their own label Tapelab Records. The single was recorded in the old postoffice in Haarlem (Netherlands) on the Gedempte Oudegracht by Japer Geluk (The Sheer) in the old Tone Boutique studio.

The sordid Boogie Trash sound of the duo is determined by the dirty blues harp sound of Pieter Kamp and the onemanband arrangement of guitar, drums and raw vocals of Joost Varkevisser.

The band name was inspired by the world famous Pignose amps, the band used during practice sessions in there house.

The band is inspired by the old masters of the blues, Son House, Sonny Boy Williamson, Booker White, Charley Patton and Blind James Jefferson, but also by the sound of many garage blues rock bands, Like Reverend Beat-Man, The black eyed snakes, Bob log III, john schooley and The Reverend Deadeye.

In 2011 the band was already played at festivals such as Gideon music festival, Sleazefest, Beeckestijnpop, Magnet festival Haerlemsche Heroes Festival, Bassy Club Berlin, and played their songs on the Dutch radio 3FM.
